The work of Kamuthe Community Wildlife Community Conservancy is centered on community-led conservation that improves the quality of life of the local community. We achieve this through our four focus areas as captured below.
Ecological Management
Our Ecological management programme focuses on conserving Kamuthe Community Wildlife Conservancy’s natural environment through improved ecological research, monitoring and targeted management interventions.
Tourism Management
Our Tourism management and development programme seeks to sustainably develop and promote Kamuthe Community Wildlife Conservancy as a preferred tourism destination in north-eastern Kenya.
Conservancy Management
Conservancy Operations and Security Management Programme aims to enhance the security of wildlife, foster collaboration with the local community and ensure sustainable resource management.
Community Development
Community Development Programme is geared towards enhancing community engagement in conservation through education, community outreaches, enterprises and human-wildlife conflict mitigation.
Where We Work
Kamuthe Location
The 31,000-hectares Kamuthe Community Wildlife Conservancy is situated in the Kamuthe area in Garissa.
Kamuthe Community is an organized demographic and cultural group comprising mainly pastoralists and farmers residing in Kamuthe location, Fafi Constituency, Garissa.
The land was previously registered as a trust land. In The group members, through their elected CLMC (Community Land Management Committee), oversaw the successful transition to Community Land.

The Kamuthe Community Land Use Plan 2024-2034 is a roadmap on how to ensure the Natural and cultural resources of Kamuthe are sustainably conserved and managed.
